Description

Just in from the nephew of the original owner! This is a fantastic blonde L-5 that has been well loved by a serious jazz musician for many many years, then passed down and used very little until today. As always, Gibson used their best flamey wood for this blonde L-5, which was a top-of-the-line guitar back in 1939. The guitar plays incredibly well with a nice chunky neck and nice frets (the guitar has been refretted up until the fingerboard extension, and they cut into the binding as part of the refret.) This L-5 is very structurally sound with only two small hairline cracks near one of the F holes. The guitar appears to have received a neck reset as well as a partial finish overspray on the back of the neck only. This is a guitar that has been well played, but also well cared for, and it shows it by being a well worn vintage piece that is structurally solid with excellent playability. The guitar does come with its original case which is in rather nice shape with all latches and hinges working, but some wear and tear on the edges. Blonde L5s in their original finish from this era don’t come up very often! Snag it while you can!
