In order to accurately assess the value of your vintage Fender guitar, it is very important to accurately identify the year of manufacture of the guitar. Why? Let me give you an example: To the untrained eye, a Fender Telecaster from 1965 and 1975 look fairly similar. Same name on the headstock, same body shape, same features, etc. However, the guitar from 1965 is worth thousands more than the guitar from 1975. Suffice to say, it is very important to accurately date your Fender guitar before selling it.
Dating Your Fender Guitar
The earliest Fender guitars have serial numbers on the bridge plate, located in the middle of the body. Please contact me if you have a guitar like this! It is valuable and collectible!
Serial numbers 0001-0999: Years 1950,1951,1952
Serial Numbers 1000-5300: Years 1952,1953,1954
Starting in 1954, Fender started stamping serial numbers into the neck plate (The plate that holds the guitar neck to the body. It should have 4 screws, one in each corner.) Please call me if you have a guitar like this!

Serial Numbers 6000-10000: 1955
Serial Numbers 9000-16000: 1956
Serial Numbers 16000-25000: 1957
Serial Numbers 25000-30000: 1958

Serial Numbers 40000-58000: 1960
